On his new CD, "Norwegian Song", jazz pianist Dag Arnesen reaches back to the music of his childhood. These folk songs, along with the music of Edvard Grieg and Ole Bull, have always been an important part of Arnesen's musical identity.
He remembers well being woken by the sound of his parents playing these songs on violin and piano on Sunday mornings at home in Bergen.
With this musical background and his experience as one of Norway's leading jazz pianists over the past several decades, Dag Arnesen is the perfect pianist to interpret this repertoire in the jazz piano trio format, something "Norwegian Song" confirms.
The Dag Arnesen Trio also features the two outstanding musicians bassist Terje Gewelt and drummer Pål Thowsen. This piano trio has played together for some years and previously released the critically acclaimed CD, "Time Enough".
